Hepatic clearance of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins depends on heparan sulfate and low
density lipoprotein receptors expressed on the basal membrane of hepatocytes. Binding and
uptake of the lipoproteins by way of heparan sulfate depends on the degree of sulfation of
