The biologic actions of the cardiac peptide hormone atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) of
vasorelaxation, diuresis and natriuresis, suppression of aldosterone, vasopressin release,
and thirst are the opposite of those of the renin angiotensin system. This close relationship is
