Patients with myeloproliferative disorders demonstrate decreased plasma cholesterol and
apolipoprotein B concentrations, and this has been related to the presence of a large
spleen. Patients that underwent splenectomy in the past demonstrated normal plasma
cholesterol levels. Plasma high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol and apolipoprotein AI
